Windows 11 at Brown - What Works

Microsoft has released Windows 11, the newest version of its operating system.

As of early October, we do not have Win11 fully functioning with our deployment and management systems, and we are not ready for use on University-owned devices. We expect to include Win11 in our patch cycles at the end of the month, but will not have testing and evaluation completed until after the final version is released.

Based on "beta" versions of the software evaluated by OIT, Win11 appears to generally be compatible with Brown's core services.  Testing performed to date shows the Win11 operating system is functioning with our "core" software, supported browsers, and VPN. OIT's Endpoint Engineering team will post information about incompatibilities as they are found, and will follow up with resolutions as they are identified.
