The Canon Vixia HF R20 has a 8GB internal hard drive which can hold 40 minutes to 3 hours of video depending on video format.

Instructions

There are two recording standards available to choose from:

1. AVCHD is a very high quality format which allows the best HD video to be captured. However, it takes up more space and cannot be played back on most devices without first importing it to video software such as iMovie, Final Cut, or Windows Movie Maker.

2. MP4 is a more efficiently compressed and directly playable format, but only allows recording up to 30 minutes per file.

Video Playback on Camcorder

Press the playback button button on the side of the camera body (next to “video snap” button). This will switch the camera from record to playback mode.

Transferring Files to Computer

Make sure the recording standard is set to AVCHD. When you record in MP4 standard, and want to transfer video onto your computer, you will have to change the recording standard back to AVCHD in order for the camcorder hard drive to appear on your computer.

Connect the camera to the computer using the supplied USB cable. It should appear on your computer the same as a USB flash drive. If you are using video editing software, you should be able to directly import from the camera using the software's “import” functionality; otherwise, drag and drop the files to the desired location on the computer.
