What’s New with Google Workspace for Education Plus

Brown University is provisioning Google Workspace for Education Plus licenses to eligible faculty, staff, and students. This upgrade brings a variety of new tools and enhancements designed to help you work more efficiently.

Below is a breakdown of the new features you will see across your Google applications.

 Gmail Enhancements

  • Larger Attachments: You can now attach files up to 50MB directly to an email, doubling the previous 25MB limit.

  • Increased Receiving Limits: Your account can now receive incoming messages and attachments up to 70MB.

  • Mail Merge: The new Mail Merge feature is now turned on and available for use. (Faculty and staff only.)

 Google Meet Upgrades

  Google Drive, Docs, and Calendar

  • Smart Canvas Features: Docs now includes assignable tasks , chips , and custom blocks.

  • Video Captions: Drive now supports automatically-generated captions for video files.

  • Calendar Statuses: Your workspace will now display your calendar status, showing when you are "Out of office," "In a meeting," or "In focus time".

  • ⚠️ Spam Protection: Calendar includes better protection against spam invitations. If you are a calendar manager/delegate, please review this article in detail.

 AppSheet

  • AppSheet Core: Users gain access to AppSheet Core and its enterprise functions.
