Brown University is provisioning Google Workspace for Education Plus licenses to eligible faculty, staff, and students. This upgrade brings a variety of new tools and enhancements designed to help you work more efficiently.
Below is a breakdown of the new features you will see across your Google applications.
Gmail Enhancements
Larger Attachments: You can now attach files up to 50MB directly to an email, doubling the previous 25MB limit.
Increased Receiving Limits: Your account can now receive incoming messages and attachments up to 70MB.
Mail Merge: The new Mail Merge feature is now turned on and available for use. (Faculty and staff only.)
Google Meet Upgrades
Advanced Meeting Controls: Hosts can now utilize breakout rooms , control slide presentations , and rely on built-in noise-canceling.
Engagement Tools: You can now use Q&A , polls , meeting transcripts , and attendance reporting.
Google Drive, Docs, and Calendar
Smart Canvas Features: Docs now includes assignable tasks , chips , and custom blocks.
Video Captions: Drive now supports automatically-generated captions for video files.
Calendar Statuses: Your workspace will now display your calendar status, showing when you are "Out of office," "In a meeting," or "In focus time".
