Due to restrictions imposed by both US and foreign governments, you may experience issues using Brown services and software while abroad. If you are traveling to or through, or instructing students in one of the countries listed below and require access to Brown software, advance coordination is highly recommended and even required in some cases.
Before traveling to any of these countries, please carefully review the current restrictions and their potential impact on your plans. Faculty members intending to offer courses in one of these countries should plan ahead prior to traveling to any of these countries.
It is best to assemble files you will need in advance of your travel as you may not have remote access to any service. Bring a local copy of what you need, and keep in mind that files you bring with you may be subject to search and seizure, so plan carefully and only bring what you need for your courses.
Comprehensively embargoed countries:
Many services will not operate in US comprehensively embargoed countries. Certain software titles may be illegal to use in these countries. Advanced coordination with Brown's Export Control office is required for all travel to and interaction with individuals in these countries.

The terms and conditions of Brown's software agreement restricts the usage of some services and software titles in these countries:
Russia
Belarus
The terms and conditions of some of Brown's software agreements also restrict the usage of some services and software titles by certain Specially Designated Nationals (SDNs). Where restrictions are known, they will be listed on the Brown Software Catalog.
