How to Generate QR Codes for Webpages
A Quick Response (QR) code is a type of barcode that can store information, such as a website link. Generating a QR code for a webpage allows you to easily share that page with others, who can scan the code with a mobile device's camera.
Many common web browsers have built-in tools to create these codes.
Google Chrome
Google Chrome includes a built-in feature to create a QR code for your- current page.
Open Chrome and navigate to the page you wish to share.
Click the More icon (three vertical dots) in the top-right corner of the browser.
Select "Cast, save, and share" and then choose "Create QR code".
A QR code will be generated, which you can then Download as an image.
Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge also features a built-in QR code generator.
Go to the website you want to share.
Right-click on any blank area of the webpage.
Select "Create QR code for this page" from the context menu.
The QR code will be generated, allowing you to download it.
Mozilla Firefox
Firefox does not have a native, built-in QR code generator. To add this functionality, you must install a browser extension, known as an "Add-on."
Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner and select "Add-ons and Themes".
In the search box, type "QR code generator".
Choose a well-rated add-on from the search results (such as "QR Lite" or "Offline QR Code Generator") and click "Add to Firefox."
After installation, the add-on will typically place an icon on your toolbar or add an option to your right-click menu to generate a code.
Apple Safari (macOS)
On a Mac, Safari does not have a direct right-click option for generating QR codes. The recommended native method is to use the Shortcuts app.
Open the Shortcuts app (it is located in your Applications folder).
Click the plus icon (+) to create a new shortcut.
In the action search bar on the right, type "Generate QR Code" and add it to your shortcut workflow.
You can set the shortcut to generate a code from your Clipboard.
To use it, copy a URL from Safari, then run the shortcut you created. The shortcut will generate the QR code, which you can then save.
