Adding quizzes to Panopto is a handy way to gauge student understanding and engagement with your Panopto videos.

In order to add a quiz to a video, you must first open the Panopto editor by hovering over the video to make the icons appear, then click "Edit."

This will open the editor view in a new browser tab. Before creating a quiz, advance the video to the point where you would like to insert your first quiz. In this example, I selected the 10-second mark to add a quiz.

Make sure that the video is paused, then select the "Quizzes" panel in the sidebar of the page. Click "Add a Quiz."

Alternatively, you may select the "Contents" panel and click the create quiz icon.

The first question has been automatically created for you. You may now edit the following quiz components:

• Quiz name 
• Current question 
• Question type

Question Types 

• Multiple Choice: Includes several answer options, but students may select only one.
• Multiple Select: Includes several answer options, and students may select more than one.
• True/False: Provides only two options — “True” or “False” — and students may select one.
• Fill in the Blank: Requires students to type in the correct answer.

You may add answer choices to Multiple Choice, Multiple Select, and Fill in the Blank questions.

If you would like, you may also include an explanation of the correct answer for students to view after completing the quiz.

 If you would like to add multiple questions to your quiz, click the “Add a Question" button in the lower right hand corner, and repeat the steps above. 

To navigate a quiz with multiple questions, use the "Back" and "Next" buttons in the lower left hand corner.

When you are finished with all of your questions, click "Done".

After clicking "Done," you will come to a screen showing you a few options for your quiz.

• Quiz Position – Change the time at which the quiz appears in the video.
• Allow viewers to retake this quiz – Permit users to attempt the quiz more than once.
• Show grade after taking this quiz – Display the quiz score immediately after submission.
• Allow review of correct answers and explanations – Let users see the correct answers and any explanations after completing the quiz.
• Block advancing in the video until answering this quiz – Prevent viewers from continuing the video until they complete the quiz.

You may also use the up and down arrows on the left to reorder questions, or select the delete option to remove a question.

When everything looks correct, click "Finish" to save the quiz.

Repeat these steps to add as many quizzes as you would like to different points in your video. When you have created all of your quizzes, click "Apply" in the upper right-hand corner to make your quizzes public.
