Accessing Huron IRB in the Brown Research Suite

First Time Log in:

To log in to the Huron IRB service (part of the Brown Research Suite), follow the specific steps for your organization. All users begin the process by navigating to the Huron IRB URL.

Brown University Affiliates

Access is automatic for Brown employees and affiliates using internal credentials.

1. Navigate to the Huron IRB URL.
2. Select "Brown University" on the discovery page.
3. Log in using your standard Brown Shibboleth credentials.
4. You will be granted immediate access to the Huron IRB service.

Brown University Health (BUH) Affiliates

Access for BUH users requires using your hospital Active Directory credentials and involves a one-time registration process.

1. Navigate to the Huron IRB URL.
2. Select "Brown University Health" on the discovery page.
3. Log in via Active Directory using your BUH credentials.
4. Review and accept the Terms of Service upon your first login.
5. Complete the Brown Research Suite Registration form with your biographical data to help us match you to an existing Brown ID, or create a new one if none exists.
6. Wait 1-2 business days for administrators to create or match your Brown ID.
7. After receiving your access notification email, log in to access the suite.

Care New England (CNE) Affiliates

Access for CNE users requires using your hospital Okta credentials and involves a one-time registration process.

1. Navigate to the Huron IRB URL.
2. Select "Care New England" on the discovery page.
3. Log in via Okta with your CNE credentials.
4. Review and accept the Terms of Service upon your first login.
5. Complete the Brown Research Suite Registration form with your biographical data to help us match you to an existing Brown ID, or create a new one if none exists.
6. Wait 1-2 business days for administrators to create or match your Brown ID.
7. After receiving your access notification email, log in to access the suite.

Unaffiliated / Guest Users

External researchers without institutional credentials must create a guest account and undergo an approval process.

1. Navigate to the Huron IRB URL.
2. Select "Guest" on the discovery page.
3. Select "Create Account" and provide your name and an email address.
4. Check your email for a unique URL to validate your account, set a password, and complete Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) setup.
5. Sign in with your new guest credentials and accept the Terms of Service.
6. Complete the Brown Research Suite Registration form to verify your research role and provide the required biographical data to help us create your Brown ID.
7. Wait for a RAIS Administrator to review and approve your request (typically 1-2 business days).
8. Once you receive the confirmation email, you may log in to the Huron IRB service.

Important Post-Registration Note

• Wait Time: If you have just received your Brown ID notification email, please wait at least 6 hours before attempting your first login to allow all systems to synchronize.

Log in Instructions (after registering):

Once your registration is complete and your Brown ID has been assigned and linked to your credentials, follow these instructions to log in to the Brown Research Suite and access Huron IRB.

Huron IRB URL

All users should begin by navigating to the Huron IRB URL.

1. Navigate to the Huron IRB URL.
2. Select "Brown University" on the discovery page.
3. Log in using your standard Brown Shibboleth credentials.

1. Navigate to the Huron IRB URL.
2. Select "Brown University Health" on the discovery page.
3. Log in via Active Directory using your standard hospital credentials.
4. The system will automatically detect your linked Brown ID in the background.
5. You will be passed directly into the Huron IRB service.

Care New England (CNE) Affiliates (Post-Registration)

1. Navigate to the Huron IRB URL.
2. Select "Care New England" on the discovery page.
3. Log in via Okta using your CNE credentials.
4. The system will automatically detect your linked Brown ID in the background.
5. You will be passed directly into the Huron IRB service.

Unaffiliated / Guest Users (Post-Registration)

Guests use the unique account and password created during their initial onboarding process.

1. Navigate to the Huron IRB URL.
2. Select "Guest" on the discovery page.
3. Enter the email address and password you established during account creation.
4. Complete the Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) step via your email.
5. You will be granted access to the Huron service.
