Print to PAWPrints from Your Computer or Mobile Device

This is the easiest way to print to PAWPrints from your computer or mobile device. You can still add PAWPrints as a printer on your computer (method 3), but methods 1 and 2 below are much easier. Also remember that you can easily print from any computer at a computing lab.

Before Printing

If you've never printed before, either:

  • log in to a print release station (recommended)
  • email BWPrinting@brown.edu (email can be blank) and click a link in a confirmation email you receive - doesn't work for summer students

This will register your account.

Method 1: Upload Your File (Recommended)

This method will work from any computer with no setup required! However, you can only print some file formats: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, Images, Text (CSV, RTF, TXT), and Visio.

Tip: trying to print from a Google Document? Go to File > Download as...  and download as a compatible format.

  1. On any computer, visit brown.edu/go/print and log in with your Brown username and password
  2. Click the Upload button and select a file from your computer:

  3. Log in at a print release station next to the printer.
  4. When instructed, swipe your card slowly and evenly.
  5. Select your document from the queue and print.

Method 2: Email Your File (Works on Mobile Device)

This method doesn't work for summer students.

This method will work from any computer OR mobile device with no setup required! However, you can only print some file formats: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, Images, Text (CSV, RTF, TXT), and Visio.

  1. From your computer or mobile device, email your file to BWPrinting@brown.edu (for black/white printers) or ColorPrinting@brown.edu (for color printers).
  2. If this is your first time emailing a file, CHECK YOUR EMAIL! you will receive a confirmation email and will need to click a link and log in. The subject line of the email is "MobilePrint Notification: Please complete your email registration"
  3. Log in at a print release station next to the printer.
  4. When instructed, swipe your card slowly and evenly.
  5. Select your document from the queue and print.

Method 3: Add the PAWPrints Printer to Your Computer (Not Recommended)

Not recommended unless you are printing file formats other than the ones listed above. This method requires a somewhat tedious setup. After the setup, you will need to be on the Brown wireless network or plugged in with an ethernet cable in order to print. Alternately, you could save your file as a PDF from another application (say, InDesign) and then print using the easier methods above.
