Course Feedback on Team-Taught Courses FAQ

If a course is taught by multiple instructors, do the students evaluate all of the instructors? Who sees this feedback?

If more than one instructor is assigned to a course, the instructor questions are repeated in the survey for each instructor. There is a NA option for all instructor questions in case one instructor’s role is such that a feedback question may not be applicable.

Instructors only receive their own feedback in reports. They do not see feedback on other instructors for the same course.

If I am supervising a course taught by a graduate student, but I am the instructor of record, how should the course roles be set up?

Your academic department manager should delete you as the course instructor in EvaluationKit  and add the graduate student as the course instructor. Students will then be asked to provide instructor feedback on the graduate student. When the course feedback period is over, you can request a PDF of the results for the course from your academic department manager. You will not get the results automatically as you are not listed as the instructor.

If I am supervising a course taught by a graduate student, but I am the instructor of record, how should the course roles be set up?

Your academic department manager should delete you as the instructor for the course and add the graduate TA as the instructor for the course in EvaluationKit. When the course feedback period is over, you can request a PDF of the results for the course from your academic department manager. The graduate students will receive an email from course_feedback@brown.edu 72 hours after the feedback period ends letting them know that their feedback results are available for viewing and including a personalized URL to access them.

If I am serving as the course coordinator in a team-taught course and do not teach students, how should the course be set up and the evaluation run?

You should be included among the instructors so feedback on the course is tied to you for reporting purposes. For instructor-specific questions, there is a N/A option that students can select for all instructor questions.

Why are my undergraduate TAs included in the course as TAs?

EvaluationKit populates the TAs for a course based on roles assigned in Canvas. Undergraduate TAs may be added through this feature. Instructors can add or remove TAs from their courses in EvaluationKit by using the “Manage Courses” view.
