Requesting Services for a course

This information will address how a Staff Member or a Graduate Student can request service(s) for a faculty member.  Please know that your Brown username will be recorded when you make these requests.

  1. Visit http://coursetools.brown.edu  (NOTE: While it will work temporarily, courses.brown.edu is the old address.)
  2. Click the Login button for the group with which you associate.
    • You may be prompted to enter your username and password
  3. Subjects will be shown by default for the current semester
    • Choose the subject for which you need to request tools or upload a syllabus
    • You should now see a list of all courses for that subject
    • Choose the course
    • You should now see the Course Title, Instructor and Course Description at the top of the page
    • Under Course Description, you will see Syllabus Upload and the six tool requests
  4. To upload a Word or PDF, select the "Upload A File" button
    • Find the file on your computer and click the "Open" button
    • Now press the "Add Syllabus" button
    • When successful, you will see an "Access Syllabus" link
  5. To request any of the six services on the page, press the "Request" button under the service name.

Canvas request process

  • Once you press the request button, you will see notification that the request is "In Progress" and the date it was requested
  • The course site will be ready at canvas.brown.edu within 5 mins of the request

iClicker request process

  • Once you press the request button, you will see notification that the request is "In Progress" and the date it was requested
  • You are provided a link to a support ticket, so you can follow the progress of your request.

Lecture Capture request process

  • Once you press the request button, you will see notification that the request is "In Progress" and the date it was requested
  • You are provided a link to a support ticket, so you can follow the progress of your request.

Blog request process

  • Once you press the request button, you will see notification that the request is "In Progress" and the date it was requested
  • The blog will be ready for you immediately and you will be provided a direct link

Wiki request process

  • Once you press the request button, you will see notification that the request is "In Progress" and the date it was requested
  • The wiki will be ready for you immediately and you will be provided a direct link

Google Course Groups request process

  • Once you press the request button, you will see notification that the request is "In Progress" and the date it was requested
  • The Google Course Group will be ready for you immediately and you will be provided a direct link
