Rental laptops from the IT Service Center may be rented out for a maximum of one month.
If you need to extend your rental beyond this period, you will need additional approval depending on circumstances. Please refer to the processes below and email email@example.com with any questions.
Are you a graduate student, staff, or faculty member?
You will need your department to provide our office with a Cost Center code that we can keep on file should we need to bill for damages to/loss of the laptop. We can extend the rental as long as your need allows for, within reason. Please email this information to firstname.lastname@example.org when you request an extension.
Are you an undergraduate student who needs our rental laptop for a specific project or program?
We will need confirmation from your supervising faculty/staff member that our laptop is the only way for you to accomplish your work and an exact end date for the project. Please email this information to email@example.com when you request an extension.
Are you an undergraduate student whose personal laptop is in the active process of being repaired/replaced?
You must be able to prove to us with documentation that your personal laptop will be repaired/replaced within 2 additional weeks beyond the 1 month maximum. This can be as simple as an email from the repair store or an order confirmation that your new laptop is being shipped. This information should be sent directly to firstname.lastname@example.org when requesting your extension.
Are you an undergraduate student whose personal laptop is currently out of commission and the replacement/repair timeline is unclear?
If financial or logistical concerns are preventing your personal laptop from being replaced/repaired, or if you are seeking a waiver to purchase a personal laptop for the first time, you must arrange a meeting with Dean Vernicia Elie, Assistant Dean for Financial Advising. She will work with connecting you to the necessary resources and come up with a plan for your extension. During your meeting, she will tell you of a final return date for your rental laptop. She will email that date to us and we will update your record.
We grant a one week grace period to arrange this meeting before late fees are accrued.
