Comparison of Course Management Tools

What's the difference between Canvas, Google Classroom, Google Sites and Brown Blogs?

Canvas: A digital site for a traditional course that is listed in Banner. Instructors may be interested in this if they teach a face-to-face course that wants to deliver digital reading, assignments and assessments for grading purposes.

Google Classroom: A digital site for assignment collaboration in which Brown instructors, staff and students can create and participate. Instructors may be interested in using this if they want instructors and students working collaboratively.

Google Sites: A customizable website for learning communities in which Brown instructors, staff and students can create and participate. Instructors may be interested in using this if they want students to create and manage a website for a course assignment.

Brown Blogs: A customizable blog for courses or personal use.  Instructors, staff and students can create a blog and enrolled students can participate. Instructors may be interested in using this if they want students creating and submitting a digital storytelling assignment with text and multimedia.
